Where one ends, another begins…

I got a new lens for my camera today. I can ZOOM! It’s awesome!

This first picture, I am standing on my back porch. Using my old lens, and it’s zoomed as far as it can go. DSC_0043

In this one, I am standing on my back porch with my zoom fully extended (sorry, I don’t know the correct terminology, I’m new at this!). The old lens, fully zoomed is also where the new lens starts with no zoom.

Here is the old lens again, fully zoomed.

And the new lens (notice the flag).

This picture would have been impossible with my old lens. I just wouldn’t have been able to get close enough to these birds.  I certainly didn’t know how beautiful they were until I saw the picture.DSC_0053

I can’t wait until tomorrow. I have a feeling I’ve been missing a lot!

I think it’s time…

They have been blooming all summer…

IMAG0577 The birds have  really enjoyed the feast.

IMAG0578But they are starting to look pretty wilted, and only small deformed buds are blooming.

As much as I hate to, I think it’s time to take them out .

IMAG0579Since this is the first year I have ever grown sunflowers, I don’t really know what to do with them. IMAG0580So I have a few question:

Do I cut them down and they will grow back?

Or do I need to take them out completely and start fresh again with new seed?

Can I grow another crop before winter, or is it too late to grow anymore this year?

IMAG0581

hmmm…sounds like something to google (unless you know the answer).

It’s not only the birds that will miss these sunflowers.

Can two people see the same rainbow?

I hope so, because this one was just beautiful!
